Russ Davidson, Pastor
Brother Russ came to First Baptist Church in November of 1999. He and his wife, Teresa, have one daughter, Cori, who is married to Michael Farrar. Before coming to FBC he served as pastor of Union Baptist Church in Marion, Kentucky for seven years. Bro. Russ received his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1997 from Mid-Continent Bible college in Mayfield, Kentucky where he majored in Biblical Studies and minored in Christian Education and Psychology. Phil Newcom, Minister of Music/Education:
Brother Phil has been on staff at First Baptist Church since 1998 and is currently serving as the Minister of Music and Education. He and his wife Vicki have two children, Danielle and Jarrod. Bro. Phil received his Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois in 1972 and completed thirty hours of graduate studies at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Before coming to First Baptist Church, he served as Minister of Music and Youth in Kentucky, Illinois, and Missouri. Bro. Phil was elected as President of the Mo. Baptist Youth Ministers Association two terms. The First Baptist Church family is blessed to have Bro. Phil Newcom serving as Minister of Music/Education. Paula Land, Director of Student Ministries
Paula has been on staff at First Baptist Church since 2005 and is currently serving as the Director of Student Ministries. Paula, and her husband, Tim, have two daughters, Britney and Briana, and are life-long residents of Salem. During her time at FBC Paula has worked in the areas of children and youth ministries and experienced how God works in and through the hearts of students. Ann Wofford
Vicki Newcom
Vicki has been one of the church secretaries since 1998. She and her husband Phil moved to Salem in 1998. Phil is the Minister of Music/Education. Her main duties as secretary are to compile and mail the church newsletter and to get all the music ready for worship services as well as any other work that needs to be done with music. She and Phil have two children, Danielle and Jarrod. Jarrod and his wife Kim have a daughter Makayla. Vicki graduated from Southern Illinois University with a degree in Elementary Education. In the past, she has taught kindergarten, taught piano, and worked as a desktop publisher. She's the rehearsal accompanist for the adults' Celebration Choir and the senior citizens' BASIC Choir. She's also part of the church's handbell choir and is the church organist.
