Children's Ministry
Here at First Baptist Church we desire to impact the lives of children with the Word of God in a fun, dynamic way. We believe the word of God makes a difference in the lives of children. At FBC we want children to have the time of their lives while learning the true meaning of "life".
Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it. (Proverbs 22:6) We use this scripture as a basis for our children's ministry. The following are activities we offer to "train up the children."
  Sunday School - Our fully-graded Sunday School provides an opportunity for boys and girls to be taught the truths of God's Word. They also learn how these truths are to be applied to their everyday lives. Sunday School is available for children from nursery through 6th grade. Sunday School is from 9:00 a.m until 10:00 a.m. (Transportation is provided on Sunday Mornings to and from church. Kids are picked up between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. and are home between 11:30 - 12:00)
Children's Church - Children's Church is available for children ages 4 years old through 3rd grade. Our desire for Children's Church is to lay the foundation for each boy and girl to come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior as the Holy Spirit convicts, and to train them to serve God. Children's church begins at 10:15 a.m.

Fun Music Videos lift hearts and hands to God. Cool arts and crafts bring focus on the Creator. Attention holding, life-application videos tell stories kids can relate to!
Lets kids worship . . . like kids!
 First Kidz Choir -First Kids choir meets each Monday after school until 5:00 P.M., during the school year. 2010/2011 Kidz Choir will begin on Monday, September 13th. Kidz choir is for children grades 1st - 6th grade. Church buses pick children up at Salem, R-80 schools and bus them to the church, where they enjoy a snack, choir time, and recreation time. The 2010/2011 Kids Choir will be learning and presenting the musical "Back to the Manger" on Sunday evening December 5th at 6:00 P.M. To enroll your child - call the church office 729-4863! Kidz choir is open enrollment with all children welcome!
FishSTICKS - FishSticks is a discipleship training class that meet on Sunday evenings in conjunction with the adult discipleship training. This is for ages 1st grade - 6th grade. There are discipleship training classes for every age group that meet during this time. FishSTICK Kids meet in the gym for Bible study and then a time of practicing blacklight, sign language, blacklight sticks, and boomwhackers. This class is from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. See church or children's calendar for dates of meetings. Fishsticks will begin again on Sunday evening, September 12th.
PreSchool Choir - Children ages 2 - K meet during discipleship training hour on Sunday evenings in conjunction with adult discipleship training. There are discipleship training classes for all age groups that meet during this time. Children learn songs and bible stories and perform their songs before the church every few months. See church or children's calendar for dates of meetings.
 TeamKID - (Kids in Discipleship) is a fast-paced Bible story, scripture memorization, and recreation club offered to children age 2 years through 6th grade every Wednesday evening. Children receive incentives for achievement that are redeemed at the TeamKID store on a periodic basis. TeamKID is from 6:00 - 7:00 each Wednesday. Open gym begins at 5:00, classes are from 6:00 - 7:00. TeamKID continues through the school year. TeamKID classes have begun and will continue throughout the school year.
 Bible Drill - Here at First Baptist Church, we believe the Bible is the most important book a child will ever read. Bible Drill is fun, interactive way for Children to learn about God's Word. This exciting program is open to all 4th through 6th graders during the winter/spring months. Children learn key Bible passages, books, and events of the Bible. Weekly training drills are conducted to prepare for competition on the local and state levels. The 2010 Bible Drill Team is lead by Mrs. Deborah McLaurin.
Seasonal events are planned for children, which include such things as excursions, bowling, swim parties, harvest party, roller skating party, etc. We also have an active bus ministry that picks children up and takes them home from church.
